Branded “A Night of a Million Stars” the Abundant Life Palliative Care fundraiser was indeed a night of many stars as the waiters at the Stardust Theatrical restaurant showed their world class talents by singing for the guests in their various different styles.
From the 60’s through to the 90’s the singing extravaganza had the room standing and clapping to their tunes.
Everyone was so excited and hyped up that it was easy to extract money from the generous audience.
Raising over R 100 000, this was the first time that the organisation had collected such an amount in one event.
The event was part of the 10th year celebration of Abundant Life Palliative Care and Victoria Hospitals 130th birthday.
Abundant Life Palliative Care is a hospital based palliative care organization that specialized in Organ Failure but due to need have opened their arms to everyone needing their care.
They provide holistic care including medical, psychosocial and spiritual support for the patient living with a terminal disease.
They are proud to announce that they have been in existence since 2009 and have reached the 1500 patient mark. As palliative care does not discriminate they have specialized in Organ Failure but accept all referrals.
*In words of Mattie Stepanek, a child who died from a life limiting neuro- muscular illness had this to say about Palliative Care “Palliative care no longer means helping children or people die well, it means helping children and their families to live well and then ,when the time is ready, to help them die gently”*
