Joey Burke has been auctioneering for 39 years and his passion and enthusiasm for fundraisers is seen by the amounts of money that he has raised for charities across the Western Cape and South Africa.
He is well known for his bubbly, energetic and electric auction methods and does not stop until the maximum amount is achieved. At the end of most of his functions he is not satisfied if he has not exceeded the organisations expectations and the charities are always pleasantly surprised.
During the past decade he has raised over R 40 Million for the likes of Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Peter Gabriel , Ronan Keating, Evita Bezuidenhout, Helen Zille and organisations such as the Amy Foundation, Reach for a Dream, Fellows for Cancer and hundreds of worthy causes around South Africa. He has performed on MNET’S television series THE BLOCK and competed in the International auctioneering championships in the United States. Recently he was a competitor on Come Dine With Me South Africa.

Branded "A Night of a Million Stars" the Abundant Life Palliative Care fundraiser was indeed a night of many stars as the waiters at the Stardust Theatrical restaurant showed their world class talents by singing for the guests in their various different styles. From the 60's through to the 90's the singing extravaganza had the room standing and clapping to their tunes. Everyone was so excited and hyped up that it was easy to extract money from the generous audience. Raising over R 100 000, this was the first time that the organisation had collected such an amount in one event. During the last three weeks the Joey Burke Charity and fundraising auction division has raised close to R 2.5 million and continues to provide excellent auction services to extremely worthwhile causes across South Africa. At the recently held FLY (Fun Learning for Youth) auction held in Johannesburg Joey raised R 700 000 at a high class function filled with very generous businessman from the Johannesburg business circles. Guests at the AFRIPAW'S fundraiser and auction, held at the Harbour House Restaurant in Constantia on Thursday 23rd August generously opened their wallets and bid furiously for the wonderful items on auction. The entertainment and food was outstanding and people thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This was Afipaw's first fundraiser and launch of such a wonderful cause. The final result exceeded all expectations when people not only bid but pledged towards spay days and clinics. AfriPaw Animal Welfare partners with low-income communities to educate families on their pets’ primary needs and facilitates free sterilisations, as well as access to affordable primary healthcare, food and shelter for township pets. On 16th August 2018 guests were treated to a spectacular Winter Ball, with Vintage Circus as the theme. Every year the Ball becomes more and more spectacular as the Helen Harder foundation team goes all out to make guest feel like they are in a fantasy world for the night. The decor and atmosphere was electric this year as R 150 000 was raised for woman with breast cancer. At the Helen Harder Foundation, their goals are to provide financial assistance, and to offer inspiration and concrete advice and support for women in need who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and to continuously raise awareness. The foundation was originally established to honour the memory of Helen Harder, a courageous young woman who always maintained a positive outlook.
