Joey Burke has been auctioneering for 39 years and his passion and enthusiasm for fundraisers is seen by the amounts of money that he has raised for charities across the Western Cape and South Africa.
He is well known for his bubbly, energetic and electric auction methods and does not stop until the maximum amount is achieved. At the end of most of his functions he is not satisfied if he has not exceeded the organisations expectations and the charities are always pleasantly surprised.
During the past decade he has raised over R 40 Million for the likes of Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Peter Gabriel , Ronan Keating, Evita Bezuidenhout, Helen Zille and organisations such as the Amy Foundation, Reach for a Dream, Fellows for Cancer and hundreds of worthy causes around South Africa. He has performed on MNET’S television series THE BLOCK and competed in the International auctioneering championships in the United States. Recently he was a competitor on Come Dine With Me South Africa.

JOEY’S CHARITY AUCTIONS HAVE A WINNING FORMULA
As the year comes to an end and despite negativity amongst the South African business community,people are still bidding generously and donating money to worthy causes. Recent charity auctions held in Cape Town and Johannesburg have had very successful results with the organizers feeling very satisfied at the end of each event. The Amy foundation auction raised close to R 700 000 at an evening filled with astonishing entertainment from the children in the townships. Fun Learning for Youth(FLY) in Johannesburg raised a phenomenal R600 000, and other events such as the Friends of Vista Nova and Alpha raised between R 200 and R300 000 . COMMUNITY MEDICS GALA DINNER – A NIGHT TO BE REMEMBERED!
The annual Community Medics Gala Fundraiser rose to the next level this year by raising R 170 000 (up on last year by close to R 50 000). This year's event was at the Stardust Theatrical diner where guests were entertained by the wonderful waiters and waitresses who sang with such professionalism and zest. It was a scene out of Broadway as guests were seen dancing on the tables and treating the singers to standing ovations. From Opera to Rock n' Roll the night was a hive of festivity and generosity at its best. This year's annual Wine & Art Auction for Greyton House School was a tremendous success raising just over R 200 000,00 and breaking last year's record. A special effort was made to collect local art from the region and people were extremely generous with their bidding. The food and atmosphere was superb and the room was made to look so special by the Greyton House Art students and teachers.
