THE PUBLIC GIVE GENEROUSLY AT THE ROHAN BLOOM FOUNDATION LIVE ZOOM AND ONLINE AUCTION

What was said to be one of the most exciting events this year, the Rohan Bloom Foundation Online and Zoom Auction was a tremendous success. With 90 items up for online purchase and 25 chosen for the live zoom event, bidding was electric. Joey Burke took to the zoom platform with passion and his bubbly personality managed to successfully pull bids from people from all over South Africa.
What was so interesting about this auction is that the items were unique and the donors were very forthcoming with their generous donations.
Some of the items included a dinner for 8 people with Thuli Madonsela, a cricket clinic with AB De Villiers, a hot air balloon safari and accommodation at Pilansberg reserve, diamond earrings from Richard Collection, the Ultimate Braai experience with Justin Bonello, presenter of the TV show, dinner with Pete Goffe – Wood, judge of the MasterChef TV series and many more exciting items.

Live and online Zoom Auctions are the ” NEW NORMAL” and instead of having a gala dinner packed with guests during COVID-19 times people are able to join the event on a zoom Webinar.
Not only did Joey Burke do an auction, but Alan Committie was the host and Majozi entertained the guests with his special voice and songs.

The Rohan Bloom foundation was established by Rod in memory of his son Rohan, who lost his battle to cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma at the tender age of 14.
Having watched Rohan suffer extreme pain, indignity, and fear, his family lived in desperation and helplessness. Had there been a paediatric palliative care hospice this would have alleviated the horrific trauma Rohan and his family endured.
After Rohan’s passing Rod vowed that Rohan’s death would not be in vain and that no child and family should ever have to suffer the way they did.
As a Public Benefit Organization, the Rohan Bloom Foundation is committed to building the first Specialized Paediatric Palliative Care In-Patient Hospice in Cape Town, offering the necessary palliative care as well as restoring dignity to the patient, whilst ensuring emotional and psychological support for the family. The Foundation aims to bring together the skills, resources and inspiration to create a blueprint for similar facilities across South Africa for terminally ill children and their families.
During the COVID-19 times, the Rohan Bloom Foundation has also provided dignity and hope for the families who are suffering with their children who are fighting the battle against cancer.
