The covid 19 pandemic took Joey Burke by storm when all his live gala dinner and fundraising auctions were cancelled one after the other for the whole year.
He had to “*adapt or die”* and so began thinking out of the box and created a new fundraising portal for auction fundraisers.
As a passionate and enthusiastic live auctioneer with a huge following he still needed to give the clients an opportunity to bid in real time and to be entertained at a virtual event. . How was he going to do a live online auction ?
This was the huge dilemma, but soon he was invited to join a Courage initiative and fundraiser where the online auction culminated in a one hour and a half auction and show filled with popular entertainers all on a Zoom platform hosted by Dan Stillerman in a New York Style Studio.
It was a tremendous success with bidders participating from Texas , Israel, UK and South Africa.Only 25 of the online items were chosen a few days before the closing time of the auction and these were auctioned live on Zoom and facebook where over 1300 people watched and participated.
Raising close to R3 million for Courage which was desperately needing to feed the people in the Imzamo Yethu informal settlement and surrounding Hout Bay residents who had lost their jobs. The impact of COVID 19 was so severe that people were starving during lockdown.
This Courage initiative had created a winning formula for Charity events which Joey then modelled and set up four new online and live auction events.

Both these events don’t cost anything to attend ,but the invitees will be online bidding at the live event which is a perfect opportunity to gather together at home with the family and participate.
